Martin | Slovakia | February | 2026

Dear Friends and Partners,
Each February we remember all Ukrainians. For four long years many have lived under the constant threat of death, freezing, or losing loved ones. Despite relentless Russian bombings, power shortages, and other dangers, they stand firm and continue to resist. Sadly, those of us who live in peace grow wearier of this war with each passing year. We grow tired of hearing about crimes and atrocities, tired of supporting Ukrainians, and tired of empty promises of peace.
Yes, long conflicts are exhausting. Any enemy — whether an aggressor or sin — seeks to wear us down so that we become self-absorbed and eventually surrender. But as Christians we must not yield to exhaustion. The author of Hebrews calls us to run our race with endurance, fixing our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1–3). Jesus not only pioneered the way and defeated our greatest enemies, but he also sent us the Holy Spirit — our Advocate and Comforter — who renews our strength to overcome difficulties and continue our mission.
In February our high school hosted the 5th Martin Model United Nations Conference (MarMUN). More than 20 delegates across two committees discussed issues such as human rights, green energy, and girls’ education. In this model world event they practiced respectful debate, challenged prejudices, and learned what it takes to persevere in making the world a better place for everyone.
Last month our students also excelled in regional competitions (Olympiads). Adela Adamová, a high school senior, won the regional Spanish Language Olympiad and qualified for the national level. Samuel Gajdoš, a high school junior, placed well in the regional Human Rights Olympiad and also advanced to nationals.
February at our school was also full of fun. Our elementary teachers hosted a Carnival of Masks where students danced, played games, and showed off carefully crafted masks. Parents and teachers enjoyed themselves and strengthened relationships at a Carnival Ball organized by our parents’ association.
Dear friends and partners, this season of Lent is a special opportunity to deepen our dependence on the Holy Spirit. Equipped by His power, we can endure hardships and continue to proclaim the Good News in word and deed.
in His service,

Adrian Kacian, Director of Development Bohdan Hroboň, president of CCE
