Dear Friends and Partners,
“But now, apart from the law,
the righteousness of God has been disclosed …”
(Rom 3:21)
These words of the apostle Paul voice the essence of Christmas: God Himself is entering this broken world. In our ill pursuit to replace God, we have poisoned the world with selfishness, greed, and fear. God should have send His punishment, but instead, He sent his Son. This most important “but” in story reveals God’s righteousness filled with His mercy and love. In Christ, God is reconciling the world to himself (2 Cor 5:19). Thanks to Him, all is well, all is right. Now we are entrusted with this good news of Christmas to apply this “but” to the present troubles and conflicts.
In Slovakia, on November 17 we commemorate an important “but” in the history of our country. Life before November 1989 in Czechoslovakia was fully controlled by the communists and we did not even dare to dream that this oppressive regime would ever end. But it indeed collapsed by the Velvet Revolution, and since then we have been living in freedom. Sadly, we see the oppressive and authoritarian regimes on the rise in today’s world, including Slovakia. Therefore, our school devoted November 17 to teaching students about importance of freedom and democracy. Through various workshops, presentations, films, and discussions, they learned how to detect authoritarian tendencies in governments and leaders, and how to protect and sustain healthy democracy.
On November 27 we organized a Thanksgiving dinner for our Slovak partners. On behalf of CCE we thanked them for their support and updated them on our progress, dreams and challenges. After the traditional American Thanksgiving dinner (roasted turkey, sweet potatoes, etc.) we gave them a tour of the school focusing on the new 9 classrooms that will be ready for the 2026-2027 school year. We are very glad that our domestic support is growing and the school is drawing more and more parents who support its mission.
In December our students communicated the Gospel to their parents and grandparents through traditional Christmas skits, singing, and dancing. These productions also served as fundraisers to help the needy. Our students sold their handmade gifts and food to generate finances for this year’s school social project – “Červený nos” (Red Clown Nose). This non-profit organization supports 67 clowns, professional actors, who visit children in hospitals around Slovakia, cheering them up, bringing hope and smiles to their difficult situations.
Dear friends and partners, on behalf of our staff and the students, we wish you a blessed Christmas and thank you for all your support and help. May this Christmas inspire each of us to highlight that “but” of God’s message of hope and reconciliation to this troubled world.
in His service,

Adrian Kacian, Director of Development Bohdan Hroboň, president of CCE
