Dear Friends and Partners,
The Lord is risen; He is risen indeed! The month of April was filled with this exclamation when we were celebrating Jesus’ resurrection with all the Christians around the world. In this decisive moment in history, God demonstrated His power overcoming death when raising Jesus as the first fruit of those who have died (1Cor 15:20).
For an individual to experience this power, the old Adam in us should be drowned and die in our daily baptism, so a new man should arise to life before God. These words of Luther were fulfilled during the worship service on Palm Sunday, April 13th when two of our teachers were baptized and confirmed their faith in the risen Lord: Tatiana Petrova, a Ukrainian refugee and a teacher, and Romana Lukacova, the assistant teacher. They grew up without any Christian background and came to faith through the ministry of our school. Praise be to God!
In April, our high school students organized A Mile of Hope – a benefit run for our partner non-profit organization “Úsmev” (Smile) that provides care for children with various disabilities. Every grade of our school ran its mile across our campus and the city pedestrian zone. This fundraising event generated 1,000 € that will help these disabled children.
Another event, organized by our school, was Earth Day. Its purpose is to teach our students to protect the earth and nature. Themes like recycling, water and waste management, and wildlife protection were presented in a very popular way with an urgent message: there is hope for our earth, but we must take its protection seriously.
In April our students successfully participated in a national Bible competition organized by the Slovak Lutheran Church. Two of our students won gold medals in their categories: Nikoleta Perglova and Adrian Natanael Kacian. Dorota Hrkutova won the silver medal. Adrian N. Kacian was the absolute winner of this Bible Olympics, scoring the most points.
In April, Sisa Schudichova and Bohdan Hrobon visited our partner churches in Naperville, IL, and Vancouver, WA. Their visits were full of progress reports, presentations and plannings. It was great to feel the support for our ministry from our American partners.
Dear friends and partners, we as Christians have a great privilege to bring the hope of resurrection to today’s world. With your help and support, we can daily witness new rebirths and renewals by the Holy Spirit here in the Center for Christian Education in Martin, Slovakia. So, with grateful hearts, let us proclaim together: The Lord is risen; He is risen indeed!
in His service,
Adrian Kacian, Director of Development Bohdan Hroboň, president of CCE
