Valčo´s Teaching Young Americans about Communism

„Virginia – the state for lovers!“ We had many opportunities to agree strongly with this statement during our 5-month-stay in Roanoke, VA. It is really easy to fall in love with beautiful nature, wonderful warm climate and warm-hearted people. It was a joy and a challenge at the same time to teach at Roanoke college students who, coming from a different culture, perceive and understand things differently. During the lectures (we were teaching  two courses – Introduction to Christian faith and Communism in Central Europe ) we not only tried to show them new perspectives but also enjoyed the discussions listening to their oppinion. Our two children – Marek (7) and Magdalena (5) – joined classes at West Salem Elementary school and enjoyed their teachers and classmates very much! We truly are thankful for this opportunity to teach, to gain new experiences, and to build new friendships!
